The single most important thing that you can do for your dolls and ornaments is preventing them from gathering too much dust.
Dust can quickly make them look worn and aged, so dust them often to prevent buildup.
Most of the times, a a Swiffer Duster would work just fine. For a more thorough dusting, you can use your vacuum at the lowest possible setting. Be careful and experiment first opening up the tip of your vacuum so that the suction power doesn't damage the doll.
If the doll gets stained, try to avoid using water to clean it.
Your first option should be one of those dry cleaning pencils like "Tide to Go". Try if first on a less visible part of the cloth, to ensure that the product doesn't make the colors fade.
If you must wash a doll, do it by hand only. You can't use washer or dryer.
I is important to dry is as quickly and thoroughly as possible, so choose a dry, sunny day so that the doll's internal stuffing dries up quickly under sunlight.
